SABBARA

HANDMADE BY SYRIAN WOMEN

Weekly Women’s Empowerment and Women’s Rights Sessions

Sabbara runs weekly drama therapy sessions with all the women we work with in our Financial Empowerment Projects. Those sessions run in collaboration with Adopt A Revolution

Antigone of Syria

In 2014 Sabbara in collaboration with Open Art foundation ran an eight-week theatre workshop with a group of women from the Shatila camp in Lebanon. The workshop culminated in a performance at a Al Madina theatre in Beirut, and proved so successful that it reached the attention of a number of major media outlets (BBC, Sky News,The Guardian, NPR among others)

Please watch an interview with Fadwa, one of the participants, about the positive effect this project had on her

Children Work

Sabbara runs art therapy classes for children who have been affected by the conflict, including many of the children of the women we work with. We maintain a special collaboration with WarChild in implementing their iDeal programme, giving  extra private lessons for kids who have missed school.
